Fedora Software
Released
Version 1.0 of the Fedora digital object repository management system
was released as open source under a Mozilla public license on May 16, 2003.
Fedora is a foundation upon which interoperable web-based digital libraries,
institutional repositories, and other information management systems can
be built. Continued development is on schedule for periodic new releases
through early 2005.

Image Delivery File Format Specifications
A working group comprised of staff from the Electronic Centers, DLPS, DL
Research & Development, Digital Services Integration, and the Fine Arts
Library agreed upon and documented a set of production specifications for
the creation of book page images and the digitization of documentary (art
and architecture and ethnographic) images.

Digital Library Metadata Report
The Digital Library Metadata Review and Planning Group issued a report
in May that addresses minimum metadata element standards, and initial recommendations
on local practice.

Text Migration Report
The Text Migration Team, including representatives from the Electronic
Centers, DLPS, Digital Services Integration, and DL Research & Development,
has issued recommended practices for the assessment of electronic texts
for migration to current markup standards and inclusion in the Central Digital
Repository, as well as recommending the standards and practices for the
migration work.

Object Model Reports
Two working groups with representatives from the Electronic Centers, DLPS,
Special Collections, Digital Services Integration, and DL Research &
Development have developed and documented object models necessary for the
representation and delivery of electronic texts, EAD finding aids, and digital
images through Fedora. These reports will guide the development of applications
used by the Central Digital Repository.
