Approved Library
of Tomorrow Staffing
In response to the Library of Tomorrow Report, "Positioning for our Future",
the Administrative Group has approved a staffing plan for implementation of
recommendations made by LofT planning teams. We plan to consider reassignment
of existing staff as well as seek 3-5 new positions to insure we have enough
staff to accomplish our goals.
The information below provides
a brief description of the new LofT roles. These are not official job
descriptions but provide information about the types of positions we will
fill. If you have questions or want more information, feel free to contact
Al Napier or Gail
Oltmanns.

A central production facility

digital collections-building unit within Central Services, and operational aspects

The manager

The associate
manager will supervise workflows, programmers, and student assistants.
Specific duties will be determined once a manager is chosen.
- Text/XML Specialist/Programmers

as well as prepare content for inclusion in the digital library.

standards are applied to digital objects added to the central digital
repository.
Information Communities
Creating successful model communities
will be critical for demonstrating the value of the concept. We expect
initial pilot projects will demonstrate effective delivery of information, new
functionality, ease of use, and enhanced availability of content.
Development of initial communities will focus on creating an infrastructure
for models that can scale for future use.
