In November 2004, Martha's Managers charged the MSG with making a recommendation for the utility of a centralized image cataloging tool.
We analyzed a selection of UVa Library image collections and concluded that all of our materials could indeed be accommodated by a single tool. Moreover, we concluded that a CCT would net us specific and tangible benefits for metadata management and manipulation. The MSG, therefore, further recommended that the Library evaluate options for a single software solution. Martha's Managers approved these recommendations in May 2005 and charged the MSG with evaluating software options.
