Digital Library Implementation Responsibilities

|
This group is the steering committee for the project and
these are the high level responsibilities that each of them must manage. Each
of these areas will have other people with clearly defined responsibilities
working for them.
Phase 2 of the implementation process is intended to start working out which departments are responsible for what and where the handoffs will be. Below are the current ideas of what those will be. Production Who: Digital Library Production Services What: Coordination of all content selection, new content creation and metadata extraction and creation. Production includes the creation of delivery versions of the content and metadata and depositing them in the appropriate file system under ReadyRepo. If a new collection does not fit into one of the existing content models, request the development of a new content model from Repository Management. Repository Management Who: Digital Access Services What: Moving the delivery versions of content and metadata into FedoraRepo and processing batches of them to make objects in the digital library. Develop new content models when needed. Be the gatekeeper for the digital library for updates. Metadata Who: Metadata Steering Group What: Development and maintenance of the metadata standards and mappings. Application Programming Who: As Assigned What: Develop scripts and programs associated with disseminators and other utilities needed. Systems Who: Library IT Systems What: Providing and maintaining the infrastructure for the repository and production associated with it. January 28, 2004 |
