Instruction

All of the University libraries offer instructional sessions to introduce students to information resources--both print and electronic--in specific areas of study, and to teach the research skills needed to use the resources effectively.

General orientations to the services and resources of many of the libraries are offered during the first two weeks of each semester.

Faculty and instructors can make arrangements for course-related library instruction by contacting the subject librarian working with their department. Research consultations for individual faculty or students can also be arranged.

In addition, the Library offers a series of Short Courses on topics such as World Wide Web, VIRGO, Lexis-Nexis, HTML, Photoshop, Audio and Video Editing, UnCover, etc. Registration is required for some courses.

To learn more about the Short Courses, or to register, e-mail lib-usered@virginia.edu or call 924-7702.
