Locating Materials in the Fine Arts Library
Books are shelved by size. There are also many special locations for various types of materials. Please note carefully the call number and location. Materials are shelved by Library of Congress call number, unless noted otherwise.
- Regular Books (FA-STKS) - shelved on the 2nd floor, beginning at the top of the stairs.
- Oversize Books (FA-OVERSZE) - begin immediately after the regular size books on the 2nd floor (A-NA1067) and continue on the 3rd floor mezzanine (NA1068-Z).
- Folio Books (FA-FOLIO) - shelved on the 2nd floor along the north wall, continuing around the back stairwell. These books do not circulate and must be used in the library.
- Dissertations & Theses (FA-THESIS) - shelved at North end of the 3rd floor mezzanine on the low shelves under the railing. Shelved by year within subject group.
- Reserve Materials are shelved by class mnemonic at the North end of the 1st floor.
- Reference Books (FA-REF) - located along the west wall of the 1st floor. Non-circulating. There is a small collection of basic reference sources on the 2nd floor bridge (FA-2ND-REF). Atlases (FA-ATLAS) are also on the bridge.
- Current Journals - shelved alphabetically by the title of the journal on the 1st floor. Non-circulating.
- Bound Journals (FA-JOURNLS) - shelved by L.C. call number on the 1st
floor directly behind the current journals. Non-circulating.
- Slides (FA-SLIDES) - Individual slides, slide sets and related materials are in the Slide Room (open M-F, 9-4).
- Microforms (FA-MICFORM) - are shelved at the west end of the 2nd-floor bridge.
