Visiting the Harrison Institute and the Small Special Collections Library

Exhibit Hours

  • Monday -Thursday: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Friday - Saturday: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: closed

Exhibits in the Harrison/Small are open to the public and free of charge. Information about the current exhibits is available at http://www.lib.virginia.edu/harrison/exhibits/ .

In addition to the two permanent exhibits — " Flowerdew Hundred: Unearthing Virginia's History " and " Declaring Independence: Creating and Re-creating America's Document " — we present changing exhibits on an ongoing basis.

Directions

The Harrison Institute/Small Special Collections Library is located on McCormick Road, adjacent to Alderman Library, on the University of Virginia grounds (#19 on this map of the University grounds ). The staff at the information desk on the main floor can direct you to the exhibits, Harrison Institute offices, and the Small Special Collections Library reading room.

The Harrison Institute/Small Special Collection Library building and all exhibits are fully handicapped accessible.

Parking

Hourly parking is available in the Central Grounds parking garage, on Emmet Street, about a block south of the intersection with University Avenue. For tour or school buses, please contact the University's Department of Parking and Transportation .
