Issues Committee (MIC) and the Office of African-American Affairs are co-sponsoring

The Afrikan Drum Festival, led by artist-in-residence Darrell Rose, is a local percussion ensemble utilizing traditional African and ethnic instrumentation in performance as well as traditional vocals and dance. "The Afrikan Drum Festival is a unifying force for African-Americans celebrating their heritage and for all people who desire peace and justice," said Brenda Lambert, MIC committee member and organizer of the event. "The joyful power of their music brings these ideas to life."
The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the parking garage adjacent to Newcomb Hall. For more information, contact Brenda Lambert at (804) 924-3159 or by e-mail at bl8w@virginia.edu
The University Library Multicultural Issues Committee was formed in 1990 to "guide the library in its commitment to promote issues of diversity." The committee uses education, policy recommendations, and events such as the upcoming performance to increase awareness and to encourage a diverse working and learning environment.
