June through August, 1996. A Buyer's Market: A Selection of Recent Acquisitions in Special Collections. This exhibit consists of rare books, manuscripts, and University of Virginia archives acquired in the past year, covering a number of fields including American History, American Literature, British Literature, sporting, Natural History, Fine Press, and Borges. Highlights include: Jefferson Letters, Green Hills of Africa typescript, first edition of Pride and Prejudice, Life and Narrative of Frederick Douglas. Alderman Library, Special Collections Department, 2nd floor. Hours are Mon.-Fri. 9-5 p.m, Sat. 9-1 p.m. Call 924-3025 for more information.
