UVA LIBRARY OPENS DIGITAL MEDIA & MUSIC CENTER

Oct. 17,1996 -- The University of Virginia Library announces the Grand Opening of the latest addition to the successful Electronic Centers initiative, the Digital Media & Music Center (dmmc).

The entire University community is invited to attend an OPEN HOUSE at the Digital Media & Music Center on Friday, October 25, from 4-6 p.m.

The DMMC, located on the third floor of Clemons Library, is a resource for those at the University who wish to find, digitize and use material from the Library's video, sound, and CD-ROM collections. The DMMC staff can provide the expertise to assist researchers, teachers, and students to "cut and paste" pieces of sound and video, digitize music, create electronic music, and prepare their projects for display on the World Wide Web.

Hardware and software are available for scanning of slides and pictures, digitizing audio and video, MIDI music authoring and audio/CD-ROM production. Demonstration of these and other capabilities will take place during the Grand Opening.
