Jan. 8, 1998 - An exhibition of watercolors at the University of Virginia's Fiske
Kimball Fine Arts Library celebrates the creative life of Richard C. Pullinger
(1905-1998), a Philadelphia architect and artist and U.Va. School of Architecture
alumnus. The exhibit, entitled "The Joy That Flows From My Brush," and on view
until May, features an innovative electronic catalog that uses video clips and
may be accessed via the World Wide Web.
In his watercolors Pullinger captures the transitory effects of mist and moisture, sunlight and seasonal color along the New England coastline.
The website was designed by Paola Sanmiguel and Josie Pipkin of the University Library Publications Department with narration by Jack Robertson, Fine Arts librarian and curator of the exhibition. The web address is http://www.lib.virginia.edu/fine-arts/Pullinger/
Portions of the catalog, with commentary on the artist and his work, are presented in video.
The exhibit is on view on the second floor of the Fine Arts Library. Four watercolors presented to the library as a gift by Pullinger are on permanent view on the first floor.
