How to Map Drives to the A-School
There are usually 2 places that Architecture students will want to map to. These are "Imagecenter/Scantemp" and "Olmsted/Classes". The process is basically the same for either one except for the the "Folder" option in the Map Network Drive dialog. Here are the basic steps to map these drives.
1. Open the Map Network Drive dialog
Right click on "My Computer" and choose "Map Network Drive" from the menu.
2. Fill in Drive Information
Pick the drive letter that you want to use to connect. Make sure to pick a letter that doesn't already have something mapped to it. In the example image below any letter except J: would work fine.
3. Fill in "Folder" Information
Fill in the "Folder" information to point to either Scantemp or Olmsted.
- For Olmsted type in: \\olmsted.arch.virginia.edu\classes
- For Scantemp type : \\imagecenter.arch.virginia.edu\scantemp
The image below shows a sample connection to the scantemp drive. Note the full path isn't visible in this example.

4. Fill in User Name/Password
Once the "Drive" and "Folder" boxes are filled in you may click the "Finish" button. You should get a box requesting user id and password. The student should preface their user id with "arch\". Their password should be typed in as usual.
5. Disconnect Folder
When you are done using the mapped drive make sure to disconnect it by right clicking on "My Computer" and choosing "Disconnect Network Drive".
