Charlottesville and Albemarle Geographic Data Guide
This page provides links and data that pertains to the Charlottesville/Albemarle area. This includes scanned topographic maps and aerial photos as well as links to descriptions of GIS data that the Scholars' Lab holds.
Displaying and Printing Planimetric Data
This page will give a quick outline of how to display planimetric data and aerial photos in ESRI's ArcMap software. These instructions assume that the user is within the Scholars' Lab but may be useful to other users who would like a quick overview of how to add similar data into ArcMap.
General Social Survey
The GSS (General Social Survey) is an almost annual personal interview survey of U.S. households conducted by the National Opinion Research Center. The first survey took place in 1972 and since then more than 38,000 respondents have answered over 3,260 different questions. Our GSS page was designed to provide local access to the GSS data.

Scanned Map Inventory
This interface allow users to search which maps in the UVA Library collection have been scanned on the Scholars' Lab large format scanner. Currently a very small portion of our collection, roughly 600 maps, have been scanned and are in the inventory.
