Interlibrary Services (LEO / Interlibrary Loans)
The Interlibrary Services Department (ILS), including Interlibrary Loans, Library Express On-Grounds (LEO), and Ivy Stacks, provides access to books, dissertations, technical reports, journal articles, government documents, patents, and newspapers on microform for faculty, students, and staff of the University of Virginia. Interlibrary Loans (ILL) obtains materials not owned by UVA from libraries around the world. Library Express On-Grounds (LEO) is a delivery service to UVA faculty. LEO delivers all materials to faculty members at their departments, whether that material is obtained from a UVA library, remote holdings or via Interlibrary Loans. Ivy Stacks is the University's remote holdings facility.
UVa Faculty, Graduate Students, Undergraduate Students and Staff may use the Interlibrary Loan service to place requests for material not available at UVa. Response times of lending libraries vary but most materials can be obtained in 3 to 10 working days. UVa Faculty may use the LEO service to request delivery to their departments of on-grounds materials such as books, journal articles, etc. This material is normally delivered within 48 hours. Requested materials that are not available at UVa are forwarded to the ILL section for processing, but will be delivered by LEO when the materials arrive. If you are associated with the Health Sciences Center, the Darden Business School, or the Law School, your request will be forwarded to the appropriate library for processing.
