President Alderman describes to his friend, W.W. Fuller, the unveiling ceremonies to
dedicate the statue to the memory of James McConnell. Alderman also descibes, in length,
the behind-the-scenes vexations involved in setting up the statue. He mentions that Judge
McConnell, James' father, was at the ceremony, but the President did not have occasion to
meet him.
