UnCover
Indexes 17,000 journals and provides table of contents alert services and article
delivery to UVA faculty and graduate students who register with UnCover.
JSTOR
The full text of key journals in political science and other disciplines, from
the first volume up to the late 1980's or early 1990's. Includes the American
Journal of International Law, American Journal of Political Science, American
Political Science Review, Journal of Politics, Journal of Asian Studies, Australian
Journal of Chinese Affairs, etc.

Government Information Resources
Home page of the Government Information Resources Department in Alderman Library.
Provides access to resources published by the U.S. government, the Commonwealth
of Virginia, the United Nations, the European Communities, and other international
governmental organizations. Includes the Geospatial and Statistical Data Center, as well as links to other relevant Web sites.

Electronic Encyclopedia of American
Government
Provides articles on the American Presidency, Congress, Supreme Court, and elections.
You can search the entire database by keyword or you can browse each article.
Links to other sites about American government are also included.
Hotline
Daily analysis of the American political scene. UVA faculty, students and staff
only.
Congressional Research
Service (CRS) Reports
Contains several hundred CRS reports online, accessible by report name, number,
subject or keyword search. Congressional Research Service is a non-partisan research
and reference arm for Congress.
LEXIS/NEXIS Academic Universe
Up-to-the minute news from sources around the world; information on government
and politics, companies, industries; legal news, country profiles, biographical
and other reference sources; U.S Code, court cases, etc. Most entries are full-text,
some are updated daily.
Congressional Universe
Extensive information about the U.S. Congress. Search an index of Congressional
publications since 1970, retrieve CIS Legislative Histories for public laws since
1970, find testimony from Congressional hearings, track bills. You can also search
Congressional Record, the Federal Register and the National Journal. (VIVA users
only.)
THOMAS: Legislative Information on the
Internet
Provides schedule of House and Senate floor activities for the week, summaries
and full text of bills, the Congressional Record, and searchable text of committee
reports.
Politics on the Web: Project
Vote Smart
Fair as a general site, but very good for state government home pages. Also see
"Issue Information" for links relevant to public issues currently being
debated, such as abortion, affirmative action, term limits, etc.
Electronic Policy Network
A good site for public policy and public administration issues. Offers links to
public policy institutes and think tanks, and to sources on major policy issues,
such as welfare reform, health care, etc.
U.S. Supreme Court
Decisions, 1937-1975
Provides full text of U.S. Supreme Court decisions from 1937 to 1975. Decisions
may be accessed through a search interface that allows querying by keyword or
case name.

WWW Virtual Library: International Affairs
Resources
Contains over 1000 annotated links arranged according to types of governmental
organizations, regions and countries, and special topics.
CIAO: Columbia International Affairs Online
An extensive source for research in international affairs. Includes working papers,
occasional papers, conference proceedings, tables of contents and abstracts for
selected journals, and full-text of selected books. UVA only.
Digital National Security Archive
Contains over 35,000 declassified documents used in foreign policy decision-making
by the U.S. government. These documents have been gathered since 1985 through
the use of the Freedom of Information Act by the National Security Archive, located
in Washington, D.C. at George Washington University. UVA only.
Foreign Affairs
Online
Offers brief annotations and recommendations on a wide variety of international
affairs resources. Includes official government sites, UN sites, NGO and IGO sites,
think tanks, human rights sources, news sites, and map sources.
World News
Connection
University of Virginia Only. Offers time-sensitive information gathered from thousands
of foreign media sources, including political speeches, television programs, radio
broadcasts, and articles from newspapers and periodicals.
PARLINE Database
Provides information about national legislatures, giving for each general information
about the various chambers, description of the country's electoral system, results
of the most recent elections, etc.
