Lexis/Nexis Academic   1985-present

Full-text documents from over 5,900 news, business, legal, medical, and reference publications. UVa holds additional subscriptions to the Congressional and Statistical modules. Coverage varies by service, but especially good for current and recent information.

PAIS International [Public Affairs Information Service]  1972-present

Public Affairs Information Service indexes a wealth of print and online resources relating to the environment, health, social issues, and government in more than 120 countries. Does not index newspapers. Coverage back to 1972 and older through the PAIS Archive.

Web of Knowledege / Web of Science   1981-present

Includes Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index, and Arts & Humanities Citation Index which can be searched together or separately. Lists articles from over 5,700 science and engineering journals, 1,700 social sciences journals, and 1,100 arts and humanities journals. Frequent updates make it a good source for very recent information.
