A. Keyword searching: islam and pilgrimage (keyword anywhere). "And" gives more hits: not limited to records with the terms in the same field. 11 hits. Display no. 1 (Pilgrimage to Mecca).
B. Change display: "Change display", then "Back to record". More info, e.g. "includes bibliographical references and index."
C. Printing: One record: use "Print" button on Netscape bar.
1. Multiple records: "Go back"---do NOT use Netscape back button. Check nos. 1 and 2. "Print-e-mail-download". "Display of records"--change to full. "Save"=download to floppy. Click on "Print." What you will print displays. Now use Netscape "Print" button.
D. Advanced search screen: "New Catalog Options"-click on "Advanced search". Author: Brown and Title: Augustine. 7 hits.
E. Adjacency search: "New search", pure adj land (keyword anywhere) 60 hits.
F. Recall. Display no. 1 (Toward a Contemporary Understanding...). Click on "recall item." ID prompt. You can choose to have your request automatically routed to ILL if the material doesn't come back in a week. Similar procedure if title is "on order" or "in process."
G. Mention: Renew is under User Services. To set up proxy server account for home access, "Other Databases--Journal Articles/Newspapers", then "Accessing Databases from Off-Grounds".

Religion Index (1949- ) [Instructor searches alone]
1 . "Other Databases--Journal Articles/Newspapers", "Alphabetical List. . R". Two versions, "WebSpirs" and "Virgo". WebSpirs allows for more sophisticated, all in one searching, "Virgo" has familiar interface and link to ILL. Try WebSpirs version.
2. Keyword searching: shaker and theology. Without the "and", "adj" is implied. 11 records.
3. "Change display". "Sorting". Change to "Sort by PY-Publication Year", "Descending" (newer records first), "if fewer than 200 records." Under "Display Records With--Specific Fields", click on "Select Fields". Check also "DE-Descriptor" (like subject heading) and "SR-Scripture Reference." "Select Fields". "Confirm Changes."
4. Printing. Check 3 (When Christ is a Woman) and 4 (Brother and sister in Eden). (Note "Save" and "e-mail" options. "Save"=download to floppy.) "Print". Check "Clear marked records after print." "Print records." "Print."
5. Index search. Close print windows. In right (blue) column, click on "Index." Drop "Index" menu to show choices: includes "general index"(keyword anywhere), "jn-journal name", "de-descriptor", "ps-personal name as subject", "sr-scripture reference", "ud-update code." SAMPLE SEARCH: "General Index", "Dogen", "Go to term". Check all 4 forms of name. "Search checked terms."
6. "Searches" (in right column). Note listing of previous searches in bottom half of screen.

3. Finding articles
a. Keyword search. Type in santeria. 29 hits. Note "Owned at UVA", "Fax I hour", electronic delivery icon. Can use only if UVA does NOT own the item. Probably need your own fax machine, but another option is...
b. Interlibrary loan request. Click on no. 7, "Spritism, Santeria, Brujeria." Full record displays. Click on "e-mail this citation" in left column. "Continue." Request form displays.
c. Journal title browse. "Cancel & return to full record." "New search." "Clear" Mark "Journal title browse" bullet and type in History of Religions. Click on title, then "Journal issues", and view TOC of latest issue present.
4. Keeping up-to-date (entitled "Reveal")
a. "UnCover Reveal"
b. Keyword profile. Click on "view or add Reveal searches." Can use truncation, Boolean searches, etc.
c. Table of Contents service. Click on "view or add Reveal titles."
C. Mention: Exit from UnCover. Open window with alphabetical list of "Other databases". Show 1) Dissertation Abstracts, 2) Historical Abstracts, 3)Lexis/Nexis Academic Universe, 4) MLA Bibliography, 5) Philosopher's Index, 6) WorldCat (verification for ILL).

B. Under "Services" is "Purchase requests".
C. ILL for titles, articles, etc. not found in Virgo. Click on "LEO/Interlibrary loans" under "Services" and go to option 3 in the right column. [ Request Form]
D. "Collections". "Electronic Collections." "Electronic Texts." "Electronic Text Center." In the list of collections, note links to Tibetan, Greek, Latin, Hebrew.
